Alicja Kujawska
An ethnologist and cultural anthropologist; an educator and editor. She has cooperated with the University of Silesia, the Nicolaus Copernicus University, the Pedagogical University of Krakow, the Patio Art Centre, the World Crafts Council, the Text and Textil magazine, the Krytyka Polityczna Club, the Arka Foundation, and the Gulliver Theatre. As a former activist of the Food Cooperative in Łódź, she promotes food independence and urban gardening.
She organised, together with the Dziecinada (Kidstakes) group, the Pierwsza kohorta (The First Cohort) exhibitions of children’s art. She initiated, in cooperation with the Cieszyn Castle, the Wool Design in Carpathians, an international workshop for designers. She loves cookbooks and children’s books. As a member of the Frakcja group, she conducts research on being an artist in Poland using participatory methods: interviews, and performances. She uses archives, fabrics, embroidery and bread in her works.
