Anka Leśniak
An artist and researcher, a member of the Frakcja group of artists, and a co-founder of the Feminist Seminar. She gained her PhD at the Faculty of Sculpture and Intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk in 2016. She graduated from the Strzemiński Academy Art Łódź (2004) and the History of Art faculty at the University of Łódź (2003). She is the author of the book: Invisible inVisible. Women disconnected from history. Site-specific artworks on abandoned buildings (2017).
Her work revolves around installation and site-specific art, video, and performance. She creates digital photo-collages. She attaches particular importance to feminist issues, site-specific art, and art in public spaces. In her performative projects, she engages in topics related to memory, herstory, ethnic and cultural identity, migration, and language. She is the author of the following projects: Body Printing, Top Models, Fading Traces, Zarejestrowane (Registered), and Invisible inVisible. She was granted a scholarship by KulturKontakt and OeAD in Austria.
