Aleksandra Gieraga
As a visual artist she works in classic areas of art: painting, object,
ocassionally sculpture, photography, video, and ephemeral activities.
She describes her work as the Open Image. Formally, this term includes all the components of the
artist's activities, allowing times, the principles of building concepts and artistic intuition to
permeate, constantly redefining the concept of image, as well as its current meaning in a
dynamically changing visual culture.
She graduated from the State Higher School of Visual Arts in Łódź. She defended her diploma in the Painting and Drawing Studio of prof. Romana Hałat in 1993. She was an assistant to prof. Hałat in her studio between 1994 and 2006. Currently, she is a univeristy professor and runs the Image Studio at the Faculty of Art of her alma mater.
Invited by prof. Andrzej Smoczyński, she was an artist-in-residence at the Screen Printing Centre of the Academy of Fine Arts Łódź in 1993-1994. She created Finding us, an international artistic group.
